A specialist asset management firm situated in New York City, known for deriving value by promoting change in financial systems, has secured further backing from organizations such as Visa and BMO for its Female Innovators Lab (FIL) Fund.
With support from Barclays and investments from Aviva, the fund’s overall value has now reached $50 million.
Established in 2019 under the leadership of Anthemis’ Global Head of Venture Studio, Katie Palencsar, the FIL Fund consistently supports women-led startups in North America, the UK, and Europe. Following Anthemis’ embedded finance investment philosophy, FIL focuses on enterprises implementing financial services within a variety of sectors such as sustainability, beauty, e-commerce, and more. Through its venture studio and fund, Anthemis has discovered over 1,500 female-founded early-stage companies and has played a crucial role in shaping and funding portfolio firms like Addition (a workplace financial wellness platform), Pile (a cash management solution for businesses), and Upkeep (a marketplace for beauty services).
