Following their 2021 collaboration that integrated data-driven insights, machine learning, and hybrid cloud tools into Wendy’s operations, the fast food chain and Google are now extending their partnership to automate Wendy’s ordering system using artificial intelligence.
Wendy’s will test an AI-enabled chatbot designed to automate drive-thru ordering in a project dubbed “Wendy’s FreshAI.” Todd Penegor, president and CEO of Wendy’s, said in a statement that Google Cloud’s generative AI technology presents a tremendous opportunity to provide a unique, faster, and more seamless experience for customers.
The chatbot will be trained to comprehend custom order requests, answer frequently asked questions, and engage in conversations with customers. As per the press release, drive-thru ordering is the preferred option for 75-80% of Wendy’s customers, making it essential for the company to optimize and ensure a smooth, error-free experience.
By implementing the AI-driven drive-thru system, Wendy’s aims to simplify the ordering process, allowing employees to serve orders more quickly and efficiently, ultimately reducing wait times for customers.
