Optus has unveiled its latest AI-driven voice functionality, known as Optus Call Effects. This inventive feature, part of the Optus Living Network, aims to infuse enjoyment into traditional phone conversations and revolutionize how loved ones connect.
Optus Call Effects is designed to bring a touch of fun to routine phone calls. It offers entertaining skills, like tossing a virtual coin to determine who’ll get concert tickets, consulting a digital crystal ball about future events, or assisting in choosing Saturday night takeout. The aim is to facilitate enjoyable and effortless decision-making.
This creative feature signifies the integration of AI into standard phone calls, thus adding a layer of light-hearted interaction. Optus Call Effects leverages Natural Language Understanding (NLU) technology, also employed in other features of the Living Network such as Optus Call Translate and Optus Call Notes, to prompt a range of engaging experiences during calls.
After enabling Optus Call Effects in the My Optus app, customers can activate a voice skill during any call by uttering, “Hey Optus”. Initially, four interactive skills will be available, with more to be introduced subsequently:
- Crystal Ball: Seek answers to intriguing life queries;
- Coin Toss: Leave a decision to chance;
- Dinner Roulette: Spin the wheel when food choices become overwhelming;
- Get to know each other.
Optus Call Effects is an adaptive, innovative solution, aiming to deliver unique and personal experiences to customers when they matter most. Available free of charge via the My Optus app, this feature will be accessible to all post-paid plan customers at launch, with availability for prepaid customers later in the year.
Launched in May 2021, the Optus Living Network comprises a suite of dynamic network features, all aimed at empowering Optus customers to modify their daily connectivity experience through the My Optus app, all running on Optus’ top-tier network. This network includes a host of features like Internet Turbocharge, Mobile Turbocharge, Network Pulse, Unlimited Data Day, Donate Your Data, Donate Your Device, Call Translate, Pause, WiFi Secure, Game Path®, Call Notes, and Eco, with more to be added soon.
