Swing Education, an online marketplace headquartered in San Francisco, has successfully raised $38 million in Series C funding, fueling its mission to connect schools with substitute teachers.
The funding round was led by Apax Partners, a global private equity firm, and Reach Capital, a venture capital firm specializing in education investments.
With this latest injection of capital, Swing Education plans to expand its pool of qualified substitute teachers and forge new partnerships with school districts across its current operational areas, which include California, Arizona, Texas, Illinois, New York, New Jersey, and Washington, D.C. Moreover, the company aims to extend its reach to additional regions in 2024.
Under the leadership of CEO Mike Teng, Swing Education has emerged as a leading online staffing marketplace, revolutionizing the process of connecting substitute teachers with schools. By leveraging the platform, schools and districts can easily find reliable and qualified substitute teachers, ensuring uninterrupted student learning experiences. With a remarkable record of filling over 300,000 absence days, Swing Education remains committed to improving the substitute teacher hiring process, supporting aspiring substitutes, and maintaining educational continuity.
Swing Education has already established partnerships with over 2,800 schools in the aforementioned regions, and this latest round of financing builds upon its previous successful funding efforts. In 2018, Swing Education secured a Series B funding co-led by GV (formerly Google Ventures) and Owl Ventures, followed by a seed round that involved prominent investors such as Social Capital, Kapor Capital, Moment Ventures, Ulu Ventures, Red House Education, and Edovate Capital.
By bolstering its resources and expanding its reach, Swing Education aims to address the persistent challenge of substitute teacher shortages and ensure that schools have access to highly qualified educators when regular teachers are unavailable. With its continued growth, Swing Education is poised to make a lasting impact on the educational landscape, facilitating seamless teaching transitions and fostering optimal learning environments for students across the nation.
