Espoo, Finland – Nokia has launched a range of cutting-edge products to elevate its industry-leading AirScale baseband portfolio, offering remarkable performance, capacity, and energy efficiency. These solutions include Levante and Lodos, two next-generation baseband capacity cards for 5G-Advanced networks, as well as Ponente, an ultra-performance baseband control card. Nokia has also expanded its radio portfolio with Pandion Multiband Remote Radio Heads and Shikra outdoor and indoor small cells. Additionally, the company introduces MantaRay, a comprehensive network management and optimization solutions portfolio that harnesses the power of Artificial Intelligence (AI) for intelligent and efficient operations.
The Levante capacity card sets new standards for performance by doubling the number of supported Massive MIMO cells and reducing energy consumption by up to 60%. It offers exponential scalability and supports significantly larger site configurations. In parallel, Nokia introduces Lodos, a high-performance capacity card that enhances scalability while reducing energy consumption by up to 30%.
The Ponente baseband control card caters to ultra-performance needs with extreme energy efficiency. It supports increased traffic growth with up to 100% higher throughput capacity and offers high-speed site connectivity. Ponente reduces energy consumption by up to 80% and ensures future-proof site evolution to 5G Standalone and 5G-Advanced, as well as efficient spectrum refarming. The card incorporates Trusted Platform Module (TPM) technology, enhancing security with hardware-processed security keys.
Nokia’s radio portfolio expansion includes Pandion, the latest generation of FDD remote radio heads, supporting up to three FDD bands in an optimized form factor. The introduction of Shikra complements the portfolio with advanced small cells for outdoor and indoor scenarios.
With the launch of MantaRay, Nokia brings AI-powered solutions to network management and optimization. The portfolio includes MantaRay Network Management, a scalable platform for RAN, Cloud RAN, and Core Network management, MantaRay SON (Self-Organizing Networks) with advanced AI and cognitive capabilities, and MantaRay RIC (RAN Intelligent Controller) compliant with O-RAN standards. Nokia also presents MantaRay Energy, combining AI and ML to optimize energy consumption in radio access networks.
