Accenture (NYSE: ACN) and Amazon Web Services (AWS) have announced an extension of their collaboration to enable faster business transformation through the utilization of large language models (LLMs) and generative AI. This strategic partnership aims to support clients in harnessing the value of these advanced technologies on the widely adopted AWS cloud platform.
With a successful 15-year relationship, Accenture and AWS, through the Accenture AWS Business Group, are committed to making strategic investments. These investments will facilitate the development of industry-specific and cross-industry solutions, pre-built models, and comprehensive training programs. The objective is to enable clients to transition seamlessly from experimentation to responsible deployment of generative AI across their organizations. By leveraging AWS’s advanced machine learning (ML) and AI technologies, these initiatives will enhance innovation, efficiency, resilience, and customer and employee interactions across various sectors. Key areas of focus include financial services, life sciences, customer support, supply chain management, and cybersecurity.
Julie Sweet, Chair and CEO of Accenture, emphasized the increasing demand for AI adoption across enterprises and the value that generative AI can bring. She expressed excitement about the expanded collaboration with AWS, which will deliver rigorously developed business cases, robust safeguards for responsible AI use, and enhanced expertise to maximize the value of these transformative technologies.
Adam Selipsky, CEO of Amazon Web Services, Inc., highlighted AWS’s extensive experience in AI technologies and their commitment to empowering organizations of all sizes to leverage generative AI effectively. By offering flexibility, choice, and security in building and scaling generative AI applications on the AWS platform, businesses can deploy tailored solutions to address specific industry challenges, drive transformation, and accelerate innovation.
This announcement aligns with Accenture’s recent $3 billion investment in AI and its commitment to deploy Amazon Bedrock, leverage advanced Foundational Models like Amazon Titan, and utilize leading technologies such as Amazon SageMaker alongside other AWS ML offerings. Accenture plans to strengthen its AWS AI talent through strategic hiring, acquisitions, and equipping its global team with AWS skills, training, and certifications, ensuring clients can fully leverage cloud-based generative AI technology.
As part of their collaboration, Accenture and AWS will jointly develop new industry-specific and cross-industry solutions. Some of the highlights include:
- Financial Services: Accenture will leverage AWS technologies, such as Amazon Textract, Amazon Comprehend, and Amazon SageMaker, to enhance the Accenture Cognitive Insurance Platform. This will streamline labor-intensive tasks like data collection, classification, and extraction, leading to accelerated claims processing, improved customer experiences, and fraud reduction.
- Life Sciences: Generative AI technologies will transform various aspects of the life sciences value chain, from lab transformation and speeding up research and discovery to generating regulatory documents for filings. Scientists will be able to work in a paperless environment, and the ability to generate regulatory documents in required formats will save time, expedite drug approvals, and enhance patient outcomes.
- Connected Customer and Employee Experiences: Accenture aims to create exceptional customer experiences at scale through AI-powered conversations, predictive insights, and omni-channel journeys. Expanding client contact center capabilities with generative AI will improve customer service experiences, including agent assistance and call summarization. Accenture and AWS will also focus on pre-assembled accelerators, such as employee assistance, to facilitate secure adoption of generative AI.
- Responsible AI Blueprint: Together, Accenture and AWS will develop a blueprint to navigate and accelerate the adoption of responsible AI strategies, decisions, practices, and journeys. The blueprint will minimize unintended bias, improve transparency, and provide end-to-end governance.
