Otter, the automatic transcription service, has unveiled its latest offering—an AI-powered chatbot designed to facilitate seamless collaboration and information exchange among meeting participants. The newly introduced Otter AI Chat enables users to ask questions in real-time during meetings and generate follow-up emails with action points once the meeting concludes. The chatbot leverages AI capabilities to provide contextual answers based on the meeting discussions.
This move follows a similar feature announcement by Zoom in March, aimed at providing meeting summaries for latecomers. However, Otter’s chatbot distinguishes itself by allowing multiple users to seek answers simultaneously, promoting efficient team collaboration. Furthermore, teammates can tag one another for clarification or assignment of action items, enhancing communication within the platform. Previously, users relied on comments within the transcript for such interactions.
While Otter mentioned transcribing over 1 million spoken words per minute, it did not specify if the AI Chat was trained on this vast data. Nevertheless, the company assures users that their AI chat data will remain private and will not be shared with third parties.
The rollout of the Otter AI Chat feature is scheduled for the upcoming days, offering all users an enriched meeting collaboration experience. In February, Otter introduced the OtterPilot bot, which automatically emailed meeting summaries to participants and included important slide images within the meeting notes and transcription. With the addition of Otter AI Chat, the company aims to provide an intelligence layer atop its existing AI-powered notetaking feature, empowering users to ask complex questions and extract valuable insights from their meetings.
As meeting-related tools increasingly leverage the capabilities of Large Language Models (LLMs), AI-generated meeting notes and summaries in various formats have become commonplace. Meeting companies are continually striving to enhance the value they provide, integrating chatbots that utilize meeting data to offer valuable insights and improve collaboration among participants.
